Assistant Professor - Tenure Track

The Department of Leadership, Research, and School Improvement in the College of Education at the University of West Georgia invites dynamic applicants to apply for Assistant Professor in the growing Educational Leadership/School Improvement Programs. The College of Education at the University of West Georgia is doctoral granting and SACS accredited, and a recognized leader in preparing exemplary practitioners for all educational roles. The College offers high level technological support, mentoring for new faculty, and opportunities to work with graduate students and to partner with school districts. The University of West Georgia, one of Georgia’s four robust-tier universities, is a dynamic institution located approximately 50 minutes west of Atlanta. Position Description

  • The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities including (1) teaching graduate courses in educational leadership and school improvement; (2) coaching and mentoring candidates in school settings; (3) advising candidates; (4) serving on doctoral dissertation committees; (5) developing and sustaining a research agenda with sustained scholarly productivity; (6) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committee work and professional service; and (7) teaching mostly in an online format.
  • At UWG, teaching for tenure-track faculty accounts for approximately 60% of faculty productivity, research 30%, and service 10%.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned terminal degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five years' experience as a practicing PK-12 educational leader, serving as a principal, assistant superintendent, or superintendent.
