Nature of Work: The Executive Director for Student Success reports directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success and serves in a role that oversees the development, management, and supervision of academic student success initiatives for undergraduate students at Albany State University.

The Executive Director will collaborate with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to support and implement programs and employ high impact practices/strategies that enhance academic engagement and successful degree completion, and promotes academic success among undergraduate students.

The Executive Director serves as the administrative leader of the office, supervising office academic administrators and staff. The Executive Director manages and employs office resources, including the budget, to meet the mission and goals of the office.

The Executive Director for Student Success will oversee development and management of all student success initiatives, including but not limited to the University's Living Leaming Communities, the Freshman Leadership Academy, and the Summer Success Academy. Additionally, the Executive Director will promote and facilitate relationships between Academic Advising and members of Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, faculty members, and other University personnel to ensure strong communication channels and promotion of an integrated student success model.  

Training and Experience: -Master's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in higher education with 3 or more years' experience in advising/student success

-Minimum of three years' experience working within higher education serving student populations

-Demonstrated ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.

-Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with key stakeholders (internal and external) to foster the spirit of engagement.

-Excellent communication skills
-Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
-Must be student-centric and customer service oriented.

Illustrative Examples of Work: The Executive Director for Student Success is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of Student Success Center.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

-Reviews and analyzes predictive data related to student retention and completion (e.g. incoming student characteristics, DWF rates, class attendance, early warnings from faculty, registration holds etc.)

-Develops retention and persistence data sources summary reports for various stakeholders and users to inform effective program development, outreach and intervention

-Collects and interprets data regarding student attrition.

-Serves as point of contact for students and faculty/staff regarding retention risk factors; identifies at-risk students and assures individualized outreach to develop individual plans for success, monitors and records progress; coordinates Advocate and coordinates outreach and support with university stakeholders university-wide efforts to promote academic student success, persistence, and graduation among a diverse student population, which are demonstrated by achieving and sustaining retention goals and graduation rates.

-Collaborate with various academic support services offices, Enrollment Management & Student Success, and Student Affairs Offices to implement university wide student success initiatives and goals that meet the needs of diverse student groups.

-Oversee the provision of academic advising and retention programs provided by the office to ensure the initiatives and activities meet the needs of the undergraduate students at Albany State University, with special consideration to populations such as student athletes, and transfer, undeclared, probation students.

-Develop and manage the University's Living Learning Communities, the Freshman Leadership Academy and the Summer Success Academy.

-Develop and employ an annual strategic plan directed towards achieving outcomes

-Identify resources and needs, develop budget requests, and manage annual budget. Serve on university committees.

-Assign office staff to university committees and task forces to represent student success initiatives

-Conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetings with Director and staff

-Oversee workload and assignments of employees in office
-Manage strategic implementation of the program budget
-Additional responsibilities as assigned by Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success.
