DESCRIPTION:

Middle Georgia State University (MGA), a Unit of the University System of Georgia (USG), invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English/Media Studies. The available Assistant Professor of Media Studies position will be housed in the Department of Media, Culture, & the Arts and will support the BA in Media & Communication, the Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing and Digital Communication, and/or the interdisciplinary MA in Technical and Professional Writing.

DESCRIPTION: The position involves teaching a 4/4 course load, scholarship, student advisement, and service. Travel among our campuses is expected. Teaching responsibilities will include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses, face-to-face, and video-conference classes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A PhD in Communication, Media Studies, English, Technical or Professional Communication or other related field.

• Ability to teach interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate coursework at the intersection of media studies and digital communication.

• Credentialed to teach a minimum of two of the following courses: Media Criticism, Film Theory/Analysis, Popular Culture, Writing for Digital Media, Technical Writing in the Digital Age, Digital Media Studio, Mass Communication, or Social Media.

• Teaching experience.

• Active scholarship agenda.

• Commitment to diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Credentialed to teach three or more of the following courses: Media Criticism, Film Theory/Analysis, Popular Culture, Writing for Digital Media, Technical Writing in the Digital Age, Digital Media Studio, Mass Communication, or Social Media.

• Evidence of innovative pedagogical practices.

• Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of coursework.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
