Nature of Work:

Excellence in research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level is expected. This is a tenured track position.  

Training and Experience:


A graduate degree (PhD. Or Master's Degree) is required along with at least 2 years of applicable teaching experience at the collegiate level. A strong record of teaching, particularly with diverse populations, is desired.

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent is required, postdoctoral experience preferred. Research in the above named fields with applications to analytical genomics or other fields that complement the current faculty in the department. Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to educational goals of a multi-cultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level is expected.
The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in Biological Sciences as well as selected courses in other complementary disciplines.
Teaching and research expertise in any of Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, Synthetic or Quantitative Biology is preferred. Teaching duties may include upper division undergraduate lectures and laboratory courses, and graduate lecture courses. Participation in service to the department, college and university is also expected. The successful candidate will be expected to write grants to develop active research programs in the department. The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience, understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
