Description

As a national leader in student success, Georgia State has developed a robust data infrastructure that seeks to leverage insights from analytics to maximize educational opportunities for students from all backgrounds. In an effort to capitalize upon, greatly expand, and better measure the learning that is already happening between Georgia State and partner institutions, the university is seeking to establish a National Institute for Student Success (NISS), which will become a catalyst for change in higher education through promoting a model of structured, evidence-based, peer-to-peer learning. The NISS will aim to support student success through various dissemination initiatives that may include engaging universities in a cohort-based model, providing student success and analytics degree/certification programs, advancing pertinent research, developing a summer academy for secondary school leaders, and forming student success consulting teams.

The Senior Research Associate will provide strategic program development and data analysis support to the NISS project team. The position will serve as the point person for research, program development, and policy, market and data analyses that support the planning, implementation, and operation of the National Institute for Student Success (NISS). The position will be a critical member of the NISS development project, executing various research projects and disseminating findings to NISS and GSU leadership. The position will support internal and external reporting through engagement with and analysis of academic, policy and practitioner communities in the area of Student Success praxis, as well as provide multilateral support for research publications. Examples of duties include:

  • Develop research plans, manage workflow, and provide feedback, guidance, and assessment strategies on the development of NISS research, data analytics methods, certificate/degree plans, and fellowship programs.
  • Gather data from multiple databases and sources and organize data into meaningful formats.
  • Conduct data analytics of internal business and program data to identify opportunities for partnership recruitment and revenue growth of the NISS.
  • Develop for publication research topics on best practices in higher education programs focusing on student retention, progression and graduation.
  • Perform business modeling and recommends feasibility and shape of new initiatives, including features and benefits, pricing, and delivery channels.
  • Assist in developing budgets and strategic marketing plans including grant development opportunities.
  • Develop research frameworks and administer and collect survey data.
  • Create summary reports and give descriptive analyses of data.
  • Create and evaluate standard data tables for various Student Success projects.
  • Review and analyze results of complex queries.
  • Test, document and perform quality assurance on data analyses related to and generated by NISS programs.
  • Performs analyses using various statistical methods and techniques with a broad range of tools for data manipulation and visualization reporting.

Qualifications

Ph.D. with three years of experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
