General Summary:

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of North Georgia  invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology beginning Fall 2020. This is a 10-months, tenure track position. This faculty member will be given the opportunity to teach in various programs and concentrations in the department, primarily in the Exercise Science and Health & Fitness programs, but with opportunities to teach in the Master of Science in Kinesiology program as well. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily on the Dahlonega campus, with the expectation of being asked to teach on any of UNG’s campuses (Kinesiology programs are housed on the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses). The successful candidate will contribute to UNG’s student-centered mission and help students graduate the UNG as leaders in both their profession and the community. Summer teaching is possible but not guaranteed.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

The Assistant/Associate Professor will:

  • Teach in the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology concentrations, with potential to teach in the online Master of Science in Kinesiology program.
  • Be committed to excellence in teaching and academic advising, collaborative curriculum development, and service on departmental, college, and university committees;
  • Maintain active memberships in relevant professional associations/organizations; 
  • Establish or continue to build a research agenda and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in his/her area of research;
  • Serve as a team player in the Department of Kinesiology’s concentrations, collaborating with faculty to foster student and program success; and
  • Work closely with faculty and staff across the institution.   

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with peers within the department, College, and across campuses and programs. 
  • Ability to teach in both the classroom and lab settings. 

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate required in Kinesiology or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses within the Department of Kinesiology


  • Experience teaching Structural Kinesiology courses;
  • Proof of scholarly activity;
  • Experience in the clinical setting that can be related to delivery of content, and
  • Experience with developing and delivering online courses (asynchronous and/or synchronous).
