Director, Civic Engagement - 19001416

The Director of Student Civic Engagement at Georgia State University leads efforts to engage students in service to the greater Atlanta community from all six campuses. Duties will include the following: 

  • Facilitate the development of effective partnerships with a variety of community leaders and service organizations to create quality engagement opportunities for students 
  • Researches, develops, implements, and co-sponsors a diverse array of program activities and services to meet student and community needs 
  • Oversees the coordination and management of the Perimeter College Panther Pantries, as well as the collaboration with and support for the downtown campus' Panther Pantry managed by the Department of Nutrition 
  • Provides leadership for the alternative break programs, the Panther Plunge events, and other essential programs and services led by the office 
  • Works collaboratively to develop effective policies, procedures, and best practices for the implementation of all the office's community engagement programs, as well as appropriate assessment processes
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates three full-time staff members as well as graduate assistants, and supervises the scheduling of other student employees and interns 
  • Prepares, manages, and monitors the annual budget as well as develop proposals and grants for ongoing and one-time funding processes 
  • Coordinates the office's use of volunteer management software 
  • Effectively gathers data regarding student participation in civic engagement programs and its relation to retention, progression, and graduation 
  • Connects the competencies students gain from office activities with the University's College to Career initiative 
  • Serves on various University and divisional committees and represents the University at multiple community events and meetings 
  • Develops strategies and initiatives to scale civic engagement and service learning opportunities and participation for students at Georgia State University

Master's degree or higher in education, guidance and counseling, student personal service or related field and five years of related work experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000 

Pay Grade: 3-1
