Description:

The Student Career Coordinator develops and implements career services for the School of Business. Primary responsibilities are to ensure the various constituencies of the School are engaged in professional and academic activities, facilitate career readiness and career development. Additionally, the position will advise students on various aspects of entering the world of work, including exploring employment opportunities and careers as well as resume writing and interview skills. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate and facilitate professional engagement activities and events for SBA students and alumni which enhance learning and career development
  • Ensure the co-curricular career development programming within SBA is effective by working closely SBA faculty and staff
  • Provide career coaching to individuals and groups by assisting with:
    • Identifying full-time, part-time and internship opportunities
    • Career search strategies, interviewing skills, personal branding (including professional social media), and overall career development plans
    • Assist students with job search documents (resume, cover letters, letters of recommendation and references)
  • Facilitate employer recruitment of students by identifying, locating and referring eligible students
  • Promote career services through presentations to class and student organizations
  • Collect and report key metrics
  • Contribute to the overall success of career development by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of work experience in working with students in Career Development, Human Resource Recruiting, or Business Industry
  • Demonstrated ability assisting with career search strategies, career assessments, career development plans, and other coaching activities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate Degree
  • Experience with career development software (CSM), career assessments (MBTI, Strong II Focus 2)
  • Experience working in College/University career services, cooperative education, or other student service areas

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and carry files and materials up to 25lbs. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
