The Department of Music at Augusta University seeks a tenure-track faculty member in Music Education. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate music education courses as needed, including Foundations of Music Education and Elementary and Middle School Methods as well as coursework in area of interest and specialty; recruiting and retaining high caliber music education students; maintaining a professional profile on a trajectory for national distinction as a teacher/performer/conductor; and contributing to the enhancement of all facets of the instrumental area.  Preference will be given to candidates with orchestral conducting/string music education experience and experience in program building.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

  • DMA, PhD or other earned doctorate in music required.
  • Demonstrated potential for national distinction as a music educator.
  • Demonstrated successful experience teaching music education at least two years in a university setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and retain quality undergraduate music students.
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated potential for high quality scholarship appropriate to the discipline that shows promise of continuation.

Conditions of Employment

All candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review.  For specific positions, the final candidate may be subject to a (pre-employment) physical, drug screen, and/or credit check.

The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary course work in the form of original transcript(s).  Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
