General Summary:

The Computer Science and Information Systems Department in the Mike Cottrell College of Business (MCCB) at the University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems. This is a full-time tenure-track position with benefits with a start date of August 1, 2020.

The MCCB is an AACSB accredited business school and includes the Center for Cyber Operations Education, Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the BB&T Center for Ethical Leadership. In addition to the B.B.A., the college offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Technology Management, and Paralegal Studies, and three associate degrees. Graduate programs include the Cottrell M.B.A., Master of Accountancy, and three graduate certificates. The international group of teacher-scholars provides an exceptional learning community to prepare students for their professional roles and to engage with business and industry in the region to foster economic development. The Department works closely with the Center for Cyber Operations Education, designated as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency. The Department prepares graduates for innovative careers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The faculty member will teach introductory and upper division information systems courses for business and information systems majors and minors, as well as some general education information technology courses.
  • The faculty member will also advise majors, participate in scholarship within the discipline, and serve the academic community.
  • The standard teaching load for an academically qualified Assistant Professor is 18 credit hours per academic year. Extra teaching load, including summer, may be assigned, with the possibility of travel to other campuses.
  • Perform other related duties may be assigned.

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:

  • A doctorate in information systems or closely related field is required at the time of appointment.
  • A doctorate degree from an AACSB accredited program is preferred.
