This position performs specialized duties in growing the distance learning's online student populations, improving distance learning student success and retention, advising students, and serving as distance learning success coaches.  

Training and Experience:

INTERNAL EMPLOYEES WHO MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.

High school degree required; Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Knowledge of college and department policies and procedures

Knowledge of program admissions and transfer requirements

Knowledge of transcript evaluation principles

Knowledge of student success principles especially as it relates to distance learning environments

Knowledge of distance learning pedagogy and course design

Knowledge of computers and job related software

Considerable skill in oral and written communication

Considerable skill in prioritizing and organizing work

Skill in the confidential management of files and records

Must enjoy working closely with students and be comfortable in the delivery of student success coaching advisement and tips

Must be able to perform duties of job in an office setting with multiple and frequent interruptions.

Experience in teaching or learning in a distance environment is preferred.

PC literate with considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, ACCESS)

Experience with Banner, DegreeWorks, and webinar technologies preferred

Illustrative Examples of Work:

Serves as the primary contact and support for new and returning distance learning students, including assisting in the connection of the student with appropriate campus services.

Advisor of record for new, readmitted, and continuing distance students with 45 or less earned hours.

Assists all distance learners, as necessary, with connecting to appropriate academic services for change of major, course/program withdrawals, etc.

Assists distance learners with connecting to student support services and acclimating to the distance learning environment.

Serves as a liaison between faculty and students to facilitate communication related to distance learning courses.

Facilitates academic technical support for distance learners and distance instructors.

Gathers, analyzes, and presents data as requested in regards to distance learner support.

Maintains a database of distance learner communications and retention efforts.

Participates in recruitment and marketing events toward potential distance learners.

Coordinates proctored testing for distance courses including identifying, screening, and approval of proctors at off-site locations, maintenance of proctor database, and supplying proctors with course specific instructions and passwords.

Provides training and professional development opportunities to faculty members as appropriate.

Participates in institution and system-wide meetings, as well as, committees and projects beneficial to distance learning and the overall betterment of the institution.

Participates in professional development and educational opportunities.

Completes special projects.

Performs other job-related duties as required.
