Description:

The English discipline at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) seeks a compositionist with experience in and enthusiasm for the teaching of developmental writing, beginning August 1, 2020.  Additional specialties of interest include peer tutor training, journalism, and professional writing/publication.

Successful candidates will join energetic colleagues working to build an innovative English major with concentrations in Language and Literature, Teacher's Education, Writing and Rhetoric, and Interdisciplinary Studies on the newest campus in the University System of Georgia. Successful candidates will teach first-year composition, general education courses, and upper division courses as available. Applicants should demonstrate significant innovation in teaching, superior service to the institution, and an active research agenda. Commitment to building a new college is essential. GGC emphasizes a student-centered learning environment.

In accordance with Board of Regents Policy governing GGC faculty, successful applicants will be eligible to receive 3 or 5 year renewable appointments or one year traditional appointments may also be approved. For more information about our college, please visit our website at www.ggc.edu.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. for Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor
  • Must have a minimum of 18 English graduate credit hours

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Specializing in Rhetoric and Composition or closely-related field preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.
