Description:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Involvement, the Assistant Director is responsible for facilitating and guiding programming initiatives for the Office of Student Involvement. The position will facilitate student organization event planning for social, emotional and intellectual growth amongst students, and include a special emphasis on residential and commuter students. Additionally, this position will facilitate multicultural initiatives, which promote diversity and inclusion, to advance our integrated academic experience model. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate and coordinate with leadership, faculty, staff, and students in planning, executing, and evaluating events and programming initiatives within the Office of Student Involvement. This includes, but is not limited to, facilitating on- and off-site educational events, in support of departmental goals and outcomes. Programs include a special emphasis on residential and commuter students. The position will also facilitate multicultural diversity and inclusion programming initiatives. Responsible for maintaining a standard of excellence for all programming initiatives.
  • Serve as liaison to students, faculty, and staff regarding questions related to programming initiatives within the Office of Student Affairs, primarily, but not limited to, the Greenlight Activities Board, Diversity Ambassadors, and Mascot program. Develop student leaders within the programs, to include students’ critical decision-making abilities.
  • Prepare, process and monitor: purchase orders, invoices, expense reports, supply orders, meeting facilities, event planning, reimbursement requests, travel accommodations, transportation reservations, etc.
  • Provide on-site supervision of events and activities, as required and requested.
  • Serve on committees, as requested.
  • Train and supervise student workers, as requested.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Personnel Work or closely related field 
  • Knowledge of student development theory, student advising and/or programming
  • At least two years of progressive experience planning, implementing, and evaluating leadership and diversity programs
  • At least one year of progressive experience advising student groups
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a college/university Student Affairs-related setting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position may require local travel. Depending upon specific duties, position may require a College issued uniform or shirt to ensure employees engaged in representing the College to the community are clearly identified as such. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
