Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The mission of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business is to develop business professionals who embrace intellectual inquiry through critical and analytical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and effective communication, while building upon the attributes of a liberal arts education.

Primary Purpose of Position

To meet the academic and instructional needs of students in the Department of Accounting and the College of Business. Teaching will be primarily in the areas of Business Ethics and Business Law.

Faculty - Teaching/Instructing

Job duties performed for the above function

Business Law/Ethics faculty must be willing and able to teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses in traditional face-to-face, environments. The primary mode of instruction within the department is through traditional face-to-face classes.
Faculty members who meet publication expectations carry a 3/3 teaching load during the regular academic year with the possibility of summer teaching as needed.

All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non‐majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

This faculty member may also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.

Job duties performed for the above function

Business Law/Ethics faculty members must conduct and publish scholarly research in line with AACSB guidelines for maintaining status as a Scholarly Academic.

Scholarly Research includes journal articles, proceedings, and paper presentations at professional meetings, which must:
- Be peer or editor reviewed and publicly available
- Meet quality expectations
- Exhibit impact using measures such as journal acceptance rates or citation

Other Intellectual Contributions include books and book chapters, non-peer reviewed publications such as invited journal publications, faculty research
seminars, instructional software, and teaching cases with related instructional materials.

Job duties performed for the above function

Faculty members are expected to demonstrate service that directly impacts
the quality of education provided to students and is related to a faculty member’s primary teaching duties.

Examples of service include: advisor to a student organization, course coordinator, committee service (i.e., member, chairperson), and conference management (e.g., chair, track chair, reviewer), or officer in a professional association.

Faculty members are expected to remain intellectually active and maintain currency in their discipline.

Professional development includes activities such as: participation at forums and conferences, involvement in professional organizations, faculty development programs, certifications, and additional education or degrees.

Minimum Requirements

Proposed Minimum Experience/Education

Qualified candidates will have terminal degree qualifications. A completed Juris Doctor degree from an accredited school is required.

Must meet SCACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (faculty credentials)



Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Preference will be given to candidates with a record of successful teaching experience in higher education.

Professional experience and certifications are considered very positive complements to academic qualifications.
