About the Department: 

The Department of Humanities at Georgia State University Perimeter College is home to the disciplines of philosophy, religious studies, humanities, speech communication, American Sign Language, journalism and the world languages. Our faculty are passionate about teaching and are dedicated to the highest quality of instruction. We challenge students to think critically and deeply, to develop multicultural awareness and to develop their minds and their skills in a way that will foster both personal and professional success.

Position Description                         

Tenure-track positions are academic year (August-May) appointments. The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing 27-32 semester hours of instruction per academic year
  • Providing student support and advising
  • Maintaining an average of 10 office hours per week
  • Working effectively and professionally with colleagues

Expectations also include service to the college at the department, discipline, campus and college-wide levels. Perimeter College requires and supports innovation and professional growth, expecting the successful candidate to engage in professional development activities which demonstrate career goals that are consistent with the college’s mission.

Required Experience: Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level.

Required Education: PhD in Philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience: Prior full-time teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements: A Criminal Background Check is required

Work Hours: Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations).

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
