About the Department                        

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics. Mathematics is the science and study of numbers, shapes and spaces and how they apply to the universe in which we live. Mathematics examines operations, interrelations, combinations, generalizations, abstractions, configurations, structure, measurement and transformations.

Position Description                          

Tenure-track positions are academic year (August-May) appointments.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Provide 27-32 semester hours of instruction per academic year
  • Provide student support and advising
  • Maintain at least 10 office hours per week
  • Work effectively and professionally with colleagues

Expectations also include service to the college at the department, discipline, campus and college-wide levels. Required Experience:  None specified.

Required Education:  A minimum of a Master’s degree required in the teaching discipline or a minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in relevant coursework (completed by the anticipated date of appointment) is required.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:  A Ph.D. in Mathematics is preferred.

Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level and online teaching experience is desired.

  • Ability to teach a variety of mathematics courses at the college level.
  • Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate student learning.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology.

Work Hours:  Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations).

Salary:  Academic year (August-May) salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
