The Department of Elementary and Special Education in the College of Education invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction. This position is located on the Statesboro campus, but may require teaching on the other campuses.

Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction is expected to collaborate with faculty across the college; teach MEd Curriculum and Instruction: Accomplished Teaching fully online graduate courses as well as courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in curriculum and instruction; supervise and assist with field experiences; maintain an active research agenda, including regular publications, professional presentations, and external grant proposals in teacher education; use instructional technology; and perform service to the department, college, University, and local community . The position is an academic (10 month), tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field, by August 1, 2019.
  • Three years of successful teaching experience in a P-12 school.
  • Strong record of research with publications and presentations in teacher education venues.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in use of technology.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and teaching online courses.
  • Experience with electronic portfolios.
  • Experience in university teaching and/or supervision of student teachers and practicum students.
  • Active in professional leadership at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Involvement in professional learning communities.
