Description:
 

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Supervising/teaching of up to eight Biology labs per semester (fall and spring).
  • The set-up of labs.
  • The taking down of labs.
  • The preparations of labs.
  • Reports to work as scheduled by immediate supervisor.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

  • Considerable knowledge of Biology and Biology lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of current Biology laboratory safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical storage and disposal procedures.
  • Ability to design a wide variety of learning programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with science instructors, and to effectively convey information.
  • Ability to exhibit a positive attitude and to deal with coworkers, students, faculty and staff tactfully and courteously in order to maintain effective service-oriented relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending or crouching
  • The employee occasionally lifts light objects
  • The work is typically performed in an office setting

Required Qualifications:
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required in biology; two-three years related working experience with this type of work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in biology; two-three years related working experience with this type of work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
