The Augusta University/University of Georgia (AU/UGA) Medical Partnership seeks an experienced medical educator with evidence of a high level of professional achievement in medical education to teach an integrated approach to Pathology and Histopathology across the first two years of the medical curriculum. Given the multidisciplinary nature of the curriculum, expertise in cellular and molecular biology are also highly desirable. We seek excellent teachers who will share our excitement in continuing to build this innovative educational program. Additionally, participation is school- and campus-wide committees will be expected. Preference will be given to candidates who also demonstrate a commitment to educational research or other scholarly endeavors. The AU/UGA Medical Partnership Campus offers unique opportunities for medical education research, as well as research in cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology and an array of other disciplines through collaboration with faculty in the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Public Health, and other units across the University of Georgia campus. Candidates will have the opportunity for appointments in the appropriate departments at both Augusta University and the University of Georgia.   

Background Information:

Augusta University and the University of Georgia have partnered to create a four-year medical education program in Athens, GA to help alleviate a statewide shortage of physicians that threatens the health of Georgians. The AU/UGA Medical Partnership combines the significant instructional and research resources of UGA, the state's flagship land-grant research university, with the expertise of AU-MCG, Georgia's only public medical school. Students study basic and clinical science in a highly integrated, systems-based, hybrid curriculum that incorporates active learning strategies into interactive large and small group settings. The successful candidate will join a cadre of enthusiastic and innovative educators who have created a collaborative environment for developing, implementing and teaching basic and clinical sciences.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have a doctoral degree (MD or DO) in their discipline, and excellent communication skills. Evidence of teaching excellence is essential, and experience with case-based and active learning methods in both small and large group settings is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching in medical education programs, and to those who will be actively engaged in some form of research or scholarship.


Academic Rank and Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
