Distinguishing Features of this Position:

The KSU Library System seeks a creative, flexible, dynamic, collegial, self-motivated, user-centered and energetic librarian to foster strategic marketing and outreach activities as part of our campus engagement initiatives. Under the supervision of the Director of Research and Instructional Services, the incumbent serves as part of a multi-campus team that partners with other KSU Units to create meaningful outreach activities and effectively market library services and programs with the campus and local community.

We seek a librarian who embraces the Library’s organizational culture of working collaboratively to achieve the KSU University and Library System missions, goals, and objectives. The incumbent will provide innovation in the workplace, participate in data driven decision-making, support the development of leadership among all employees, and foster a culture of excellence in library services, collections and facilities, while focusing upon supporting student success.
The Kennesaw Campus will serve as the home base for this position, with the incumbent spending time working at all of the library system’s facilities and campuses as necessary.

Major Responsibilities:
Librarianship (45%)
1. Serve as an undergraduate faculty liaison to assigned subject areas. Perform subject specific professional work, including library instruction to undergraduate students and faculty, outreach, and collection development.
2. Provide research assistance and reference services to undergraduate students, faculty and other members of the KSU community as assigned.
3. Teach information literacy classes to undergraduate students, in accordance with KSU Library System Policies, as assigned. Create instructional materials in multiple formats for use by undergraduate students and faculty.
4. Continuously update skills and knowledge of current best practices in academic librarianship for self and others in the organization.
5. Maintains appropriate professional activities and contributes to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.
6. Be professionally active and contribute to developments in the field of library science and/or subject-specific discipline
through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

Strategic Marketing and Outreach (45%)

1. Develops, implements, and maintains outreach programs and marketing plans focused on increasing awareness of the KSU Library System.
2. Cultivates working relationships with other KSU departments.
3. Conducts library tours and represents the library at campus events.
4. Assists in developing and maintaining library webpage and social media content5. Produces publicity releases, flyers, posters, and a newsletter.
6. Develops and implements library activities that foster student success.
7. Collaborates with unit supervisor and RIS team colleagues on various outreach programs and projects.
8. Assists with the creation, collection, analysis and implementation of findings from Library Surveys and other activities to gather user input.
9. Participates in documenting and communicating Library activities with state, regional and national publications.

Additional Responsibilities (10%)
1. Work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends and at various KSU learning sites.
2. Serve on library, campus, University System of Georgia, regional and national professional committees..
3. Collaborate on cross-departmental projects.
4. Manage and provide leadership for the KSU Library System Friends of the Library.
5. Facilitates the work of others.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from an American Library Association accredited program or foreign equivalent.
2. Impeccable written and oral skills. Ability to communicate appropriately within, and outside of the library.
3. Creativity in problem solving.
4. Skilled in creating, editing, and promoting written and visual content for marketing and outreach.

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience in networking and building support of libraries among community stakeholders, applicable non-library experience is acceptable.
2. Experience with developing and administrating marketing and outreach services, applicable non-library experience is acceptable.
3. Experience with creating displays, applicable non-library experience is acceptable.
4. Experience in graphic design.
5. Experience providing instruction in either libraries or other settings.
6. Experience providing reference services.
