The individual hired will also serve as an academic advisor to students in the department’s programs, assist with student clubs and organizations, participate in administrative and service activities, and work effectively as a member of a faculty team to continually update and improve the content of degree programs in the department. The successful candidate will work with the community and college on initiatives and activities that enhance the student learning experience and community relationships and promote student engagement. The faculty evaluation process addresses teaching/advising, scholarly activity, professional development, and service.

Position Summary:

The Department of Agriculture at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Agronomy. This is a 10-month, tenure-track position.  Duties include a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester including instructing courses with laboratories in Agriculture to include Plant Pathology, Fundamentals of Plant Protection, Disease Management, Insect Management, Crop Production, Agronomy, Weed Management, Genetics and/or Crop Physiology. Additional teaching assignments will depend on the successful candidate’s areas of interest and expertise

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. required in agriculturally related field such as plant pathology. A strong commitment to working with undergraduate students is a must. College teaching experience is preferred, but evidence of teaching ability is required. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to use current technology in support of instructional activities and teaching laboratory skills. The ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing is required.
