Assistant Professor
Job Description:

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of First-Year and Transition Studies beginning August 2018. Responsibilities include teaching the first-year seminar course, proposing courses and teaching in KSU’s First-Year Learning Community Program, and engaging in professional service at all levels of the institution. The position also carries a high expectation for productivity in the area of research/scholarship. Qualified individuals may be called upon to assume additional responsibilities, such as teaching online graduate courses, advising graduate students, supervising theses, and mentoring graduate students. The typical teaching expectation for First-Year and Transition Studies faculty is a 5-1 load (Fall-Spring).

An earned doctorate/terminal degree or its foreign equivalent is required. Candidates with credentials/teaching experience in the STEM fields are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates must have college teaching experience, preferably in First-Year Experience programs (including but not limited to first-year seminar courses and learning communities). Preference will be given to candidates with a strong body of publications in the area of first-year and transition studies, experience teaching graduate classes, and expertise with current teaching pedagogies and technologies.

Our student body is fully representative of the diverse Metro Atlanta community, and we actively seek faculty who reflect this diversity. The department desires candidates who have a record of success teaching individuals from underrepresented groups in higher education and whose professional experiences have prepared them to contribute to our university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Candidates are strongly encouraged to describe how diversity issues have been or will be brought into their teaching, research, and service.
