The Department of Theatre & Performance Studies (NAST accredited) seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Costume Design to begin August, 2018. Candidates must possess a terminal degree, MFA is ideal, along with a demonstrated record of excellent research/creative activity in the area of theatrical costume design. The successful candidate will teach courses in costume design and construction, stage makeup, theatrical production, period styles, and other topics in their area of expertise. Experience teaching hair and makeup design and application for all ethnicities is encouraged. Teaching duties in other areas of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies may be assigned. The ideal candidate will display teaching excellence and a commitment to innovative educational practices. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research and/or creative activity profile. They will design for the department season and mentor students through the design process. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional management, communication, and leadership skills.

The department seeks candidates who have a record of success teaching individuals from underrepresented groups in higher education and whose professional experiences have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.

MFA and/or Ph.D. degree, or its foreign equivalent, and significant professional experience in Costume Design. Terminal degree required. This is a 9-month, full-time position.
