Position Statement:

Founded in 2005, Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) is the 31st member of the University System of Georgia. GGC is a premier 21st century liberal arts institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. With a current enrollment of over 12,000 students, enrollment is projected to exceed 13,000 students in 2017, including both residential and commuter students. This position provides admission counseling services for prospective freshman and transfer students who are seeking entry to Georgia Gwinnett College.  Additionally, this position assists with operational recruitment activities, represents GGC at off-campus events and helps maintain student marketing systems which support overall institutional enrollment.  This position will manage a recruitment territory in Georgia & parts of Northeast Florida as well.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a recruitment territory in Georgia composed of high schools and two-year colleges.
  • Provide admissions counseling to prospective students on and off campus (on demand and by appointment).
  • Review assigned applicant files for completion and for admissions decisions / assist with student service for walk in and telephone inquiries / respond to student inquiries through the use of social media tools.
  • Support the campus tour program as needed.
  • Responsible for designated projects within the Office of Student Recruitment and Admissions as related to identifying target markets; social media; geo-demographics; and campus needs.
  • Participate in projects that support the enrollment goals of the college.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. 

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:  

Bachelor’s Degree required; one year experience desired

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, both oral and written.
  • Thorough knowledge of, familiarity with and experience in the admissions field and interpreting policies and procedures to prospective students and the GGC community.
  • Ability to present clear and accurate information to small and large groups of various populations.
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse constituencies in a large, fast-paced professional work environment.
  • Represent GGC in a professional and positive manner at all recruitment related functions.
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer systems, programs and applications using Banner. 
  • Ability to work independently and develop project timelines and associated tasks to be completed.

Physical Requirements

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
