Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in English.
  • Ability to direct a writing laboratory designed to serve the entire campus.
  • Ability and desire to teach freshman composition and advanced writing courses.
  • A primary interest in, and firm commitment to, student-centered teaching.
  • Applicants with writing lab experience and college teaching experience may be given preference.

Responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Teach two composition/writing courses each fall and spring.
  • Staff the Writing Lab 17 hours a week, including one evening per week.
  • Maintain Writing Lab Web page and conduct periodic assessment of lab services and materials.
  • Coordinate Writing Lab volunteers and part-time staff.
  • Participate in academic advising, committee work, planning and assessment, other College and community service, and professional development.
  • Other such duties as assigned by the chair of English.
