ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION

TENURE TRACK

The Department of Sport Management, Wellness, and Physical Education seeks a qualified candidate for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Health and Physical Education position. The College of Education is SACS accredited and offers high level technological support, mentoring for new faculty, assistance seeking external funding, and opportunities to work with graduate students at all levels. Located 45 miles west of Atlanta, the University of West Georgia, a Doctoral Research University is rapidly growing.  We offer programs at the undergraduate level through the doctorate with a diverse faculty and student population.  We are the seventh largest public university in the state with students from 44 states and 75 countries. Our 645-acre campus offers modern, state-of-the-art facilities complemented by beautiful green spaces. Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in Physical Education and Health in both face-to-face and online environments, scholarly activity, and service to the Department, College, University, and community.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in Health and Physical Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution by August 1, 2018 (ABD considered)
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in Physical Education and Health in both face-to-face and online environments
  • Established or developing research agenda
  • Established or developing record of service

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with higher education teaching experience in Physical Education and Health, activity-based courses, practical experience in the field (K-12), a demonstrated research agenda, and documented evidence of effective online teaching.
