Research Associate/Contracting Officer

With minimal supervision:

  1. Responsible for evaluation, processing, negotiation and administration of sponsored research grant and contract proposals and awards;
  2. Prepare and negotiate all types of research, services, and other collaboration agreements with industry sponsors;
  3. Review, prepare and execute documents associated with foundation grant proposals;
  4. Maintain current knowledge of contracting practices,  business and technology trends as relates to GT contracting units;
  5. Respond to inquiries and provide direct contractual services and guidance to faculty, staff and students on sponsored research agreements including review, analysis and interpretation of all new grant and contract awards;
  6. Serve as a liaison to outside companies that sponsor research at Georgia Tech;

Perform other related duties as assigned.


  1. Experience at a non-profit educational institution or foundation;
  2. Knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200 and Bayh-Dole Act and the ability to interpret and apply these;
  3. Computer related experience to include usage of databases, operating systems, and office automation applications;
  4. Ability to interact with key faculty members, staff members and students in a multi-cultural environment;
  5. Must be able to deal with constantly changing work demands - prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and procedures;
  6. Able to work independently and in coordination with intra-university teams to meet deadlines;

Experience in contract database management systems.
