General Summary:
 

The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) is the chief student affairs officer of the University and reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet. The Vice President serves as the senior executive officer responsible for providing leadership, vision and administration of the units in the division:  Enrollment Management, Residence Life, Orientation and Transition, Multicultural Student Affairs, Student Life, Deans of Students, Commandant of Cadets, Career Services, Student Counseling, Testing, Student Health, Student Money Management Center.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
 

The Vice President for Student Affairs will:

  • Ensure divisional compliance with the institutional mission. Manages the achievement of division goals. 
  • Provide leadership and management to ensure a properly coordinated delivery of essential student services by organizing the various units in a logical, non-duplicative and effective manner to best meet the recruitment, retention and graduation goals of the institution. Encourages high morale and quality student service through a leadership style that encourages employees to strive for the achievement of annually established goals and objectives. 
  • Coordinate the annual budget within the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Promote positive student relations and leadership opportunities by maintaining effective lines of communication and serving as a strong advocate for the non-academic, extra-curricular and co-curricular needs of students. 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must have strong organizational and managerial skills. 
  • Working knowledge of student development theory and engagement practices. 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other university leadership. 
  • Knowledge of administrative support areas including fiscal and human resources management.  
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Doctorate in higher education, student personnel administration or related degree is required.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible positions in student affairs. 
  • Experience in strategic planning, budget and resource management.
