The Department of Educational Technology and Foundations seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant / Associate Professor of Media. The College of Education at the University of West Georgia is doctoral granting and NCATE accredited, a recognized leader in preparing exemplary practitioners for a variety of roles. The College offers high level technological support, mentoring for new faculty, assistance seeking research funding, and opportunities to work with graduate students at all levels. The University of West Georgia is one of Georgia’s four robust-tier universities. Located 45 miles west of Atlanta, the University of West Georgia is rapidly growing, with programs at the undergraduate level through the doctorate, with a diverse faculty and student population. Our 645-acre campus offers modern, state-of-the-art facilities complemented by beautiful green spaces. It ranks as one of the Southeast’s best public regional comprehensive universities.

Responsibilities include teaching in online M.Ed., Ed.S., and non-degree programs in Instructional Technology and engaging in applied research and service activities. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Earned doctorate with emphasis in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or closely related field (exceptional ABD candidates will be considered);
  • Working knowledge of learning theories, instructional design, technology integration, and distance learning;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and teach courses in hybrid and fully online environments;
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity in education technology including published articles, presentations, and/or grants, and a developing research/publication agenda.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significant work with adult learners, familiarity with adult learning theories;
  • Experience teaching and/or advising graduate students
  • Interest in working with emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated innovative uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning;
  • Willingness to take leadership roles in state, regional, national and international professional organizations;

This is a tenure position with the possibility for summer employment. Start date for the position is August 1, 2018. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
