Job Summary

The Marine Sciences Program at Savannah State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, located in Savannah, Georgia seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor. This non-tenure track full time faculty position is offered as a one year-renewable contract. The positon serves as an Education Expert on the leadership team of the NOAA Living Marine Resources Cooperative Sciences Center, in the College of Sciences and Technology. Responsibilities include Chairing the NOAA LMRCSC Education Committee; assessing and training students supported by NOAA LMRCSC; integrating the work of the LMRCSC with science education instruction at SSU; and participating in outreach activities that promote STEM education. The person in this position is expected to make scholarly and service contributions to the school and university, attend school and university meetings, and support the mission of the NOAA LMRCSC. May be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary $50,000 annually.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned Ed.D or Ph.D in a field of education related to teacher preparation and/or STEM education with expertise in science education and/or environmental literacy as well as in educational assessment. Background and/or credit check may be required.
