Russell Library provides the tools and expertise for Georgia College’s diverse communities to pursue knowledge and truth for the public good.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Ina Dillard Russell Library seeks applications for a tenure-track Assessment Librarian at the rank of Assistant Professor. Reporting to the Director of University Library, this position will maintain and creatively enhance a assessment program that informs decision-making, services and learning spaces. Primary assessment duties include analysis and reporting of usage and web-based feedback, development and administration of user needs assessment related to library services and spaces and participation in consortial and institutional assessment activities.

Provides leadership for the Library Assessment Committee. Identifies and coordinates assessment efforts. Develops and implements structure and process for measuring effectiveness of Library services. Works closely with Associate Directors to support a data-driven approach to meeting strategic goals. Works closely with library departments to select appropriate data collection strategies. Assists in the collection, analysis and reporting of assessment results. Represents the Library in campus, regional and national assessment efforts. Evaluates effectiveness of Library assessment efforts. Recommends ways to strengthen assessment and evaluation activities. Provides data from assessment for library colleagues as requested. Coordinates assessment training for library faculty and staff. Coordinates and administers assessment plans related to accreditation requirements. Analyzes data from assessment and presents graphical and written reports as needed. Works closely with Library Administration, the colleges and other stakeholders to document and disseminate assessment results. Compiles and submits consortium statistical reports.

Collaborates with librarians, staff, university community, and others to realize and implement assessment and user experience efforts. Serves as the designated liaison for assessment and accreditation activities department and institution-wide.

Pursues opportunities to establish and maintain cross-disciplinary expertise by participating in relevant Library activities. Advocates for the role of assessment in the formulation of library services and policies. Provides basic consultation and education to faculty and students, including information copyright, open access services and resources, and publishing alternatives.

Key Function Faculty - Teaching/Instructing
Job duties performed for the above function

Teaching and Instructional Responsibilities include actively soliciting, creating, and teaching information literacy instruction to support the students and the University’s curriculum; and contributing to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching information-literacy related first year (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. This position performs reference duties as assigned and creates and promotes instructional information such as bibliographies, service guides, web publications, subject-related research guides, etc. Participating in the library’s collection development efforts by reviewing, selecting, and making recommendations for the purchase of library materials that support the curriculum is also required of this position.

Minimum Requirements
Proposed Minimum Experience/Education

-ALA-accredited Masters degree in Library & Information Science. Please note: all degrees must be conferred by an accredited institution by the hire date)
-Two to three years professional experience working in an academic or research library
-Experience with assessment and accreditation efforts
-Experience with user experience and engagement efforts
-Proven ability to coordinate and manage projects effectively
-Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively with staff and users
-Experience working cooperatively with people from diverse backgrounds
