Job Description: 

 

This position performs technical duties in support of college payroll functions.  

Enters payroll data. 
Enters payroll data required to process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls.
Enters payroll exceptions.
Enters payroll overloads.

Processes bi-weekly and monthly payrolls 

Resolves payroll problems.

Communicates with supervisors and staff to resolve payroll concerns.
Answers payroll related questions and provides related information.

Runs monthly and quarter-end reports  

Reconciles payroll accounts 

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Over two years of related experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES AND/OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits and deductions processes as related to payroll.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

Payroll experience in a higher education institution

  • Payroll experience with ADP and or PeopleSoft
