Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Primary Purpose of Position

Teach primary Psychiatric Mental Health and Adult Health & Gerontology related courses and provide clinical supervision. Opportunities to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level will occur dependent upon areas of experience and certification.

This is a tenure track position and therefore the emphasis or both workload and expectation of faculty performance is on excellence in teaching in didactic and clinical settings in Nursing. Additionally scholarly activity involvement is recognized when relevant to informing instruction of classes, i.e. the scholarship of teaching and/or practice.

Maintain involvement in University, College, School, and professional service. 
Student mentorship.
1. principles of teaching and learning. 
2. currency in clinical practice. 
3. communication (both oral and written) with a variety of communities. 
4. knowledge of practice issues in area of expertise.

Minimum Requirements
Proposed Minimum Experience/Education

Doctoral Degree in Nursing (PhD, DNS/DNSc, DNP) or related field. May accept enrollment and adequate progress toward achieving a doctoral degree.

Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN).
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)

Department Required Skills

Educational and clinical experience in psychiatric and adult health and/or gerontology.

Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in Georgia required at time of hire.
Teaching experience.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

Preferences
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Certification either in area of teaching or clinical area.

Familiarity with synchronous, asynchronous, and online instruction.

Familiarity with patient simulation equipment. 
Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.
