General Summary:

The University of North Georgia (UNG) is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political Science & International Affairs (PSIA). The successful candidate may teach on multiple campuses with the focus being Gainesville and Oconee.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for teaching 12 hours per semester (4/4; undergraduate)  The successful candidate will teach freshman level as well as upper division courses.   Possible upper division courses might include international relations theory, international political economy, and international organization.  

The department has a strong focus on advising and service.  Faculty are expected to conduct service at the departmental level as well as at the College and University levels.

Candidates also are expected to engage in research and scholarship as part of the tenure process. 

Preference will be given to those candidates who:

  1. Have a strong background in teaching introductory and upper division courses in international relations
  2. Have engaged in significant advising and service activities
  3. Experience teaching in on-line instruction
  4. Are committed to strongly supporting and growing the degree offerings of the department. 
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in political science, international relations or a related field.
  • They must have a successful teaching and publication record.
  • Applicants must have a focus in international relations.
