Nature of Work: Part-time online instructors for the distance learning undergraduate programs and courses instruct and facilitate distance courses in the core curriculum and the various degrees and programs offered by the University. (MATH, ENGL, COMM, HIST 

This is a part-time, temporary, distance faculty position with the specified academic term as the term of employment. Each course assigned has a minimum number of students needed in order for it run, as well as a maximum capacity.  

Training and Experience: Prior distance learning experience or training in distance learning pedagogy required. 

Proficient in the use of computer software, webinar technologies, and BrightSpace (D2L) or other learning management systems. 

Masters degree from an accredited institution with a graduate major concentration, or a minimum of an additional eighteen (18) graduate semester hours, in the primary teaching field.  

Illustrative Examples of Work: Responsibilities include teaching/facilitating courses in accordance with University approved distance learning course content 

Prepare and distribute course syllabus to students, based upon the university and college approved syllabus structures. 

Develop, as appropriate, and provide guidelines for student participation in distance learning courses 

Develop, as appropriate, supplemental materials for provide master course content 

Login to each online class at least once every 24 hours and respond to student emails with 24 hours of receipt 

Actively participate in the online course at least three to four days per week. 

Hold weekly online office hours as required by the 
University and College 

Actively facilitate course content, guide student discussion and provide frequent, timely, and meaningful content to distance learners 

Submit class roles, grades, and other administrative processes by institutional required deadlines 

Maintain required records and reports for each course assigned 

Work closely with assigned distance learning support specialist to ensure students are connected with appropriate University resources

Check University email frequently, in addition to course email.
