Working Title Accountant II (Grants & Contracts)
Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for this position which performs various general accounting duties including reconciliation, journal entry preparation and reporting. Works with PeopleSoft financial system and Microsoft Office to generate complex reports and process information; complies with all applicable University, USG, State of Georgia policies/ procedures, and contractual obligations. Verifies accuracy and validity of posting and accounting transactions; prepares entries to correct accounting errors, performs analytical reviews and submits reports as required or requested. Monitors budgets, approves expenditures and maintains accurate records, databases and other documents to support accounting transactions. Provides support to other staff within the Comptroller’s Office and related departments. Communicates and collaborates with employees, project managers and others related to grants and contracts. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; competitive benefits program.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; an advanced degree is preferred. Must have a minimum of two years of experience in general accounting; with governmental and/or grants accounting experience preferred. Strong analytical and technical skills, the ability to work independently required; with professional communication skills to work with employees of the University and external parties; background and/or credit check may be required.
