Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for an Academic Program Specialist. This position is responsible for coordinating the administration functions of the School of Business and assisting the Dean and Associate Dean in managing the School of Business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and manages the School of Business administrative issues on a regular basis with other campuses

  • Coordinates the Academic Advisors schedules on four campuses

  • Provides assistance to faculty, other staff, and students; provides information and resolves problems

  • Coordinates and manages special events of the School of Business such as Executive Lecture and Student Recognition Dinner

  • Prepares memoranda, letters, emails and reports

  • Manages the Dean’s schedule and calendar; schedules appointments

  • Creates and manages the student workers/assistants and schedules

  • Coordinates schedules with faculty on all five campuses

  • Manages all activities in the School of Business

  • Point of contact for faculty, staff and students in the School of Business

  • Liaison between the Foundation and Dean

  • Manages the academic calendar and due dates within the School of Business

  • Creates and supervises the peer tutoring schedule

  • Manages the degree audits and graduation records within the School of Business

  • Assists in registering students

  • Assists faculty in the development of course schedules; enters schedules to Banner

  • Manages information on the School of Business website and Facebook page

  • Manages a variety of assigned budgets such as operating and travel budgets; maintains required records

  • Attends meetings and records minutes; coordinates meetings and makes arrangements for food and beverages

  • Performs related duties as assigned 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.  Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of at least 3-4 years’ experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact well with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders from the four campuses; problem solving skills; knowledge of university and school policies and procedures; skill in prioritizing and organizing work; knowledge of computers and job-related software programs; knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; and skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine and copier.

SALARY: Pay Grade 16
