Serving within the Research Faculty of The Institute, the Program Specialist directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond.  As part of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), primarily this role provides program development and implementation services to small and mid-sized companies in strategic areas that foster their development and encourage growth.  Specifically this position will directly assist the Project Director of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center and the MBDA Advanced Manufacturing Center.  These Centers assist Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) in scaling up through access to opportunities, capital and markets as well as through strategic growth initiatives.  The program specialist will assist the project director with program development and implementation including, but not limited to recruiting companies for the programs; directing/coordinating all efforts involved with fostering relationships with relevant program partners/stakeholders/constituents, and working with marketing to promote the programs.  This position will be located at the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute’s MBDA Business and Advanced Manufacturing Centers in midtown Atlanta.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate program development, logistics and operations in the overall execution of MBDA Center programs.
  • Assist project director in managing and cultivating relationships with prospective program partners, corporations, and stakeholders to promote market outreach and business development.
  • Assist project director in identifying and/or developing resources to cultivate and assist Center clients through the delivery of Center programs/events that promote business development & growth.
  • Assist project director in evaluating and assessing viability and success of Center programs. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Science, Engineering, Business, Technology, or related/relevant field.
  • Work Experience: Three to five years job-related experience (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
  • Skills: Ability to analyze, evaluate, and assess complex information and an ability to use independent judgment and communicate effectively.  Prior experience with developing and executing programs and projects.  Prior experience in program logistics and event planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Communications, Science, Engineering, Business, Technology; certified in Project Management or related/relevant field
  • Preferred Skills/Work Experience: Three to five years job-related work experience.   Previous leadership roles and/or recognition within research related projects. Proven track record of project or program development, management, and execution.
