The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, announces the recruitment for a non-tenure-track Professor of Practice faculty position in Construction and Infrastructure Systems Engineering.

The School is seeking to expand its teaching expertise and outreach activities  in core areas of this specialty as well as in interdisciplinary areas that address global grand challenges. Areas of interest for undergraduate and graduate instruction include: construction safety and health; evolving contracting and project delivery methods; construction finance; building information modeling for construction workflow; information technology for construction engineering and management; construction means and methods;   quantity take-off and estimating; lean construction and productivity analysis; and modularization and production design.

An applicant need not have expertise in all of these areas, courses to be offered by the successful  applicant will be determined based on a combination of identified pedagogical gaps in the program, the successful candidate’s expertise, and the ability for the successful candidate to reach out to their professional network for guest lecturers. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will participate in the development and operation of new outreach and engagement activities between faculty, students and industry.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech has approximately 631 undergraduate students, 400+ graduate students, and 49 tenure-track faculty.

Candidates must have completed a Masters level degree in Civil Engineering or a related field by August 15, 2017. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with project execution in the construction industry is required, ideally in roles with accountability and direct responsibility for supervision of others. Candidates with a PE license and/or CCM certification are especially encouraged to apply.
