The Department of Family Medicine (DFM) in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Georgia Regents University (GRU), is seeking clinician educators to support its growing teaching, research, and service programs.  Participation in the full scope of Family Medicine ambulatory/hospital clinical and education services is required. 

Department Marketing Statement

The DFM provides academic support in each year of MCG’s curriculum in preclinical electives and interdisciplinary required courses.  The department also provides a six-week Family Medicine Clerkship supported by institutional/departmental resources which utilizes a stable network of private practice and community Family Medicine residency learning communities.  The MCG accepts 230 students per year of which 40 are assigned to its 4-year regional campus, the GRU/University of Georgia (UGA) Medical Partnership.  The MCG has three additional clinical regional campuses located in the NW, SW, and Coastal regions of the state where undergraduate third and fourth year students also matriculate. The DFM has an 8/8/8 accredited Allopathic Family Medicine Residency Program with additional ACGME approved positions for future expansion, a 2/2/2 1+2 rural track residency program, along with a concurrent Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency Program. Clinical teaching and services occur concurrently in the Family Medicine Center (FMC) and hospital of the GRHealth System as well as other affiliated local and regional clinical sites.  The FMC is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient-Centered Medical Home.  Patient- and Family-Centered Care concepts are the guiding principles for new clinical program development in the university’s academic health center as exemplified by its children’s hospital.  There is a strong affiliation with a network of rural community health centers providing a portion of resident/student education and additional opportunities for practice-based research using the department’s developing Practice-based Research Network, HamesNet.  The department conducts research in health disparities, colorectal cancer screening, decentralized UME and GME, and physician workforce needs.  GRU Research Institutes provide opportunities for research development and collaboration for primary care faculty along with its new Institute of Public and Preventive Health.  Faculty development and education research opportunities are provided through MCG’s Educational Innovation Institute.  

Minimum Requirements

Must have MD/DO degree, residency completion in an ACGME Family Medicine approved program, certification by the American Board of Family Medicine, and ongoing participation in Maintenance of Certification.  

Shift/Salary

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the education and qualifications of the selected candidate.
