Radiation Therapy and The Cancer Center The Department of Radiation Oncology and the Cancer Center at Georgia Regents University, invite applications for a full-time Radiation Oncology, Chief Medical Physicist Researcher, Animal Pet/CT Ph.D. at an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank.

Georgia Regents University houses a number of specialty research institutes and centers as well as an extensive state-of-the-art core facilities, with a focus on genomics, proteomics and molecular medicine. Cancer Research focus is in the areas of molecular oncology and biomarkers, signaling and angiogenesis, cancer immunotherapy, inflammation and tolerance cancer prevention and control. Clinical research is conducted through the excellent Cancer Center translational research infrastructure that includes the minority based CCOP grant, Cooperative group trials, investigator-initiated trials and the Phase I and II clinical research programs. Opportunities for research collaboration with basic and clinical researchers are available.

Our Cancer Center Radiation Therapy Center has four Varian linear accelerators (two dual energy, two IGRT capable) including a new Trilogy unit which has the capacity to treat 120-130 patients per day. Varian Eclipse treatment planning systems and Nucletron HDR Afterloader are available. Twin treatment planning vaults in the GRTC will house Philips Gemini TF PET-CT (16 slice) and Philips Brilliance CT Big Bore. Research interest in IMRT, IGRT, new imaging isotopes, and adaptive therapy are beneficial.

A competitive salary is offered commensurate with experience.


Responsibilities will include a combination of administration, patient care, research and teaching. Primary clinical responsibilities will be to provide leadership in IMRT, IGRT, Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Gamma Knife and Trilogy), HDR and LDR brachytherapy, image co-registration, adaptive therapy, TBI, TSI, and gated therapy. Unquestionable character, competence, and leadership qualities are required.

Minimum Requirements

The applicant should be ABR certified and hold a doctoral degree in medical physics with a minimum of five years' experience at a major academic radiation oncology program. The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree in the form of an original transcript.
