Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position is responsible for directing residence life operations for an assigned residence hall and for enforcing residence life policies and procedures.
MAJOR DUTIES
• Resides in an assigned residence hall; participates in evening programming; responds to overnight emergencies; participates in on-call rotation schedule.
• Recruits, selects and assists with the training of Resident Assistants (RAs).
• Resolves minor discipline issues and completes related documentation; resolves resident problems.
• Coordinates the assignment and scheduling of RAs.
• Supervises the work of RAs; conducts staff meetings; communicates with staff to exchange ideas, solve problems, and discuss ideas.
• Inspects residence hall daily to identify and resolve maintenance and student conduct issues.
• Coordinates health and safety checks.
• Coordinates and schedules fire and tornado drills.
• Coordinates student check-ins and check-outs at the beginning and end of each semester.
• Educates residents of college rules and regulations and the consequences of infractions.
• Posts signs and posters as needed; maintains and updates bulletin boards.
• Unlocks student rooms as needed.
• Performs related duties.

This is a 10 month regular part-time position which includes hourly pay plus rent-free apartment (unfurnished), free utilities, telephone, cable, and computer access; academic year meal plan and free parking pass.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of an associate’s degree.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with three years’ experience or service.

Preferred Qualifications:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Supervisory and leadership experience in educational or academic setting.
• Ability to design and implement educational and social programs for residence life.
