PIANO

MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY, MACON—Assistant Professor, Piano, Tenure Track. Start Date: August 1, 2018. The Department of Media, Culture, and the Arts invites applications for a pianist with expertise in classical forms and experience in non-classical forms, e.g. jazz, gospel, or diverse commercial genre. Candidates who also bring practical experience in the music industry are encouraged to apply. In Fall 2018, MGA is launching a progressive BA in music, which will incorporate classical and commercial forms into applied study. The successful candidate will be committed to an omnicultural artistic perspective. Principal duties: 1) teach applied piano; 2) create and teach a 4-semester aural skills sequence to support the mission of the program; 3) other courses based on expertise; 4) a record of creative activity/scholarship, teaching, and service.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Masters Degree is required but preference will be given to applicants with an earned doctorate in music or related field, or extensive experience in the music industry. Requirements also include a vibrant and continuing artistic practice. Teaching experience at the college or university level is an asset.
