Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for this three year, Department of Defense grant funded position which conducts mechanistic investigation of mitochondrial dysfunction in neurons. Manages day-to-day lab operations; conducts basic animal care, and trains research students on basic lab skills in biochemistry and cell biology. Interacts with the principal investigator, faculty, staff and students within the department and the University. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Biochemistry Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology or related fields with three or more years of demonstrated research experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Research experience and publication record in the areas of protein modification, transcriptional control, protein-protein interaction, and animal modeling will be considered a plus. Excellent skills in Word and Excel and ability to effectively manage document maintenance systems are essential. Excellent organizational skills required; willingness to grow through experience and training and to participate in a team environment with minimal or no supervision is a strong component. Background and/or credit check may be required.
