Master degree required, with emphasis on mixed-methods research and evaluation methods for educational interventions. Candidate should be able to create project evaluation plans in collaboration with CEISMC lead evaluators. The position requires prior experience in designing and conducting program evaluations as well as experience in interfacing with K-12 educational constituents.  In particular, the position requires experience in educational program evaluation, specifically managing, collecting and analyzing educational data.

The successful applicant will have the following required qualities:

  • Experience working with underserved schools in an evaluation setting.
  • Familiarity with educational research methods including mixed methodology, program evaluation.
  • Experience collaborating with school administrators directly to improve school assessment plans.
  • Experience with GADOE data systems and their use in evaluation.
  • Experience evaluating STEM related K-12 activities/programs.
  • Strong skills and experience with qualitative research methods: instrument development, qualitative interviewing, field observations, focus groups, computer‐assisted analyses, including use of qualitative software.
  • Strong skills and experience with survey research methods: questionnaire development, survey administration/management.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in an evaluation setting such as data collection as well as with adult learners.
  • Working knowledge of online survey creation tools.
  • Experience publishing research and evaluation findings in journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Experience preparing Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications.
  • A Masters degree in social science, education, or related field
  • More than three years professional related experience
  • Extremely detail-oriented in the management of several complex projects
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and SPSS.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

Research and/or Evaluation Design Skills: Experience designing a variety of types and sizes of research studies or evaluations, including leveraging mixed method approaches.

Technical Research Skills: Qualitative: A strong candidate will have experience analyzing large amounts of qualitative data including comparative analysis across cases/informants.

Technical Research Skills: Quantitative: Intermediate knowledge of inferential statistics; intermediate skills in SPSS or other statistical analysis program including experience writing syntax, recoding data, and analyzing data through syntax; and skill in interpreting the results of quantitative analysis.

The Research Associate II will complete the following duties: 

  • Assist the CEISMC lead evaluators with needed program evaluation duties: Monitor program milestones; set up meetings with stakeholders, develop tools for evaluation, tabulate results, collect data, maintain databases etc.
  • Conduct related literature reviews.
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data for evaluation projects, including surveys, interviewing, field observations, focus groups.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including use of qualitative software such as NVivo or Atlas.ti and quantitative software such as SPSS, SAS etc.
  • Coordinate data collection efforts.
  • Maintain the communication with evaluation data collectors on an ongoing basis to maintain data quality.

**This position is full time. Research Associates in CEISMC are dependent on sponsored research.  All employment and assignments are ultimately contingent upon continued outside funding.
