Working Title Academic Support Specialist – CAS (Part Time) Title III
Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Academic Support Specialist (20 hours/week). This position offers students assistance with their academics; provides tutoring services in specialized areas of interest. Recommends useful tools and resources related to the academic success of students through presentations to the student population and collaboration with staff and faculty; participates in the marketing and promotion of the CASTutorial Center. Provides one on one and group tutoring by appointment and with walk-ins; assists students with identifying and overcoming barriers to academic success. Delivers presentations on academic skills and strategies; assists the Coordinator of the Tutorial Center with various projects and supervision of the Tutorial Center staff. Maintains a variety of logs and files relating to student participation; work includes flexible hours and some evenings. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Experience working as a tutor or teacher in one on one and group settings. Must have an overall GPA above 3.0 (above 3.5 in STEM area(s) of tutoring). Experience using active learning techniques; knowledge in MS Office required. Background and/or credit check may be required.
