General Summary:

The University of North Georgia (UNG) is seeking applications for a 10-month tenure track position for Athletic Training Education in the Department of Kinesiology. This faculty member will teach in the Department’s Athletic Training Education Program and newly created Sports Medicine emphasis (undergraduate), primarily on the Dahlonega campus, but with the expectation of being asked to teach on any of UNG’s campuses.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

The Assistant Professor will:

  • Teach in the Athletic Training Education Program (currently undergraduate and transitioning to graduate level) and will also be available to teach courses within the Sports Medicine emphasis (preparatory degree for Master’s in Athletic Training (MAT))
  • Be responsible for student supervision at clinical sites Commitment to excellence in teaching and academic advising, collaborative curriculum development, serving on departmental, school and University committees, have active membership in relevant professional associations/organizations and work closely with faculty in related academic disciplines. 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with peers within the department and College and across campus and programs.
  • Ability to teach in both the classroom and lab settings.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Georgia Athletic Training license or eligible, and a minimum of three years of experience as an NATA certified athletic trainer required.
  • Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Athletic Training courses.
  • Teaching experience in a CAATE accredited program and scholarly activity in defined field of research preferred
  • Doctorate required in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or related field.
