Perform and coordinate administrative duties in support of obtaining sponsored projects for a 35 plus research faculty laboratory. Report directly to Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory Director. Position will not supervise personnel.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate proposal preparation and submission (data collection, tracking of statistical information, routing, editing)

  • Manage the pre-award proposal process. Including all proposal submissions and contract negotiations, such as: NSPIRES, cayuse & submissions, proposal routing packages, master agreements, teaming agreements, SUA’s, NDA's and TCP's

  • The Research Associate I will disseminate information regarding processes, deficiencies, and statistics to the lab and its employees

  • PIM will maintain the ASDL website and all public relation materials, both generating and maintenance is important

  • Tracking and assisting the program initiation, SUA, NDA, and TCP processes with cross-functional teams, both internally to Georgia Tech (OSP, legal, etc.) and  externally with sponsors

  • Keep calendar-based tracking system for highlight research agreement with high risk

  • Liaise with financial manager

  • Planning, organize, and follow-through with visits, meetings, events, workshops/seminars and video conferencing for professional engineering staff, as well as strategic partners and potential sponsors

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Work Experience: three to five years job related experience

  • Certifications: N/A

  • Skills: This job requires working knowledge of administrative support processes required for an academic/research group within a university environment. Included are skills in report writing, communications and customer service. Use of office and specialized computer applications and systems is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree

  • Preferred Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a university environment; experience working with proposal development and submission

  • Preferred Certifications: N/A

  • Preferred Skills: The position requires a wide range of understanding of the complex nature of an academic research center operations, including the ability to carry out goals and develop procedures to achieve these goals without supervision. Must have demonstrated organizational skills, excellent communication and technical skills to support faculty/staff in a fast-paced, university environment.  Since the position interacts with many different personnel both internally and externally, the candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills to be effective.
