Working Title Senior Administrative Specialist
Job Summary

Savannah State University seeks applications for Senior Administrative Specialist. Reporting to the Executive Assistant, this position provides writing and correspondence for the office of the president including speeches, letters, memorandums, and summative reports. Handles matters of a confidential nature and performs secretarial services and administrative assistance as needed. This position also provides necessary and helpful information to the public greeting visitors and assisting in the coordination of mailings, performing any and all activities that support the President and the operations of the Office of the President. Employee may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.

Minimum Qualifications

Four year degree in related field required; supplemented by minimum three to five years of responsible administrative support experience or combination of education and experience. Computer literacy a must with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Working Knowledge ofAPPLE and MAC software systems is desired. Broad base knowledge of formal protocol and office etiquette is desired. Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail; with effective time management, customer service and organizational skills. Strong oral and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and discretion required. Prior knowledge of APA, Chicago, and academic and professional writing styles desired. Must possess strong personal code of ethics, including maintaining confidentiality; background and/or credit check required.
