Provides Grant-Funded academic support to area schools

Primary Purpose of Position

Substitute Teachers are responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the teacher for whom he/she is substituting and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies.

Job duties performed for the above function

Substitute Teachers will work at Blandy Elementary as an employee of Georgia College as an hourly, grant-funded employee without benefits. Serves as part of an education team; participating in staff and parent orientations, meetings, and ongoing professional development training. Works closely with the Education Coordinator to maintain and submit necessary records and reports. Takes recommendations from the Education Coordinator to ensure continuous improvement of the program. Conducts phone and other forms of contact with parents or guardians of YES students. Fosters trust and teamwork. Follows the guidelines of the 21st CCLC Handbook. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Displays a joy of teaching and conducts academic enrichment activities in an “afterschool” style. Maintains an atmosphere conductive to learning; adheres to the goals and objectives of the 21st CCLC program. Implements standards-based academic activities; differentiating instruction for diverse learners. Provides homework and tutoring assistance, promotes the discovery of competence within each child, fosters high expectations, and celebrates program/ classroom successes. Promotes and maintains appropriate student behavior.
